Japan: 60 second business etiquette tip

When travelling around the world it is important to be aware of business and social etiquette. The Airport Economist Tim Harcourt shares his top tips for getting ahead in Japan.

When in Japan take the following tips into account:

Tip 1: Always be punctual.

Tip 2: Be polite. Japan is still formal in many business settings.

Tip 3: Be diplomatic. Japan is a very indirect, polite but generous society.

Tip 4: Don’t bring partners to work functions. Only do so if they are specifically invited.

Tip 5: Be Prepared to party. Japanese business culture still has a strong social element and it might help you bond and who knows you might a great time as well!
